ACHIEVEMENTS

During the past 5 years (2020-2025), we provided services for 43 guests from 14 different countries. We evaluate their success with us by how they learn to cope with their trauma, their growth in self-esteem, self-confidence, and their ability to integrate back into society. For those from foreign countries, the process is slower and takes longer because of their need to learn English.

Out of 43 guests:
- 1 returned to the street.
- 7 opted to return to their home countries when they were ready to do so.
- 8 were transferred to other programs that were more suited to their needs.
- 23 enrolled in community college/English classes/university, 8 of which also worked simultaneously.
- 19 employed full time.
Mary's Guest House had the joy of celebrating the educational accomplishments of three guests. One graduated from University of California San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and then went on to work as a medical assistant with the hope to become a physician’s assistant in the near future. Another graduated from University of California Berkeley after majoring in Microbial Biology with toxicology minor and hopes to return to San Diego to work in a laboratory. The third guest graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. We are extremely proud of these guests, especially knowing the obstacles they had to overcome to fulfill their dreams.
